Exploitation is the phase in penetration testing where vulnerabilities and services identified during the reconnaissance and enumeration phases are actively exploited to gain  access to the target system or network. This phase involves executing attacks to exploit weaknesses, such as software bugs, configuration errors, or inadequate security controls. The main objectives of exploitation are to establish a foothold within the target environment, demonstrate the impact of discovered vulnerabilities, and gather additional information to escalate privileges and expand access within the target system.
